Love has an immense ability to help heal the devastating wounds that life sometimes deals us. Love also enhances our sense of connection to the larger world. Loving responsiveness is the foundation of a truly compassionate, civilized society.

Successful long-term relationships are created through small words, small gestures, and small acts.

To truly love we must learn to mix various ingredients - care, affection, recognition, respect, commitment, and trust, as well as honest and open communication.

I am originally from Texas, where I was born and raised! I decided I wanted to become a therapist after taking a communication and human connection class, which I found instantly fascinating. In 2015, my husband and I moved to New York, which was a huge culture shock and an incredible and exciting experience! I attended Seton Hall University in New Jersey and earned my master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2019 and then worked for a group therapy practice located in Midtown Manhattan. I jumped unexpectedly into teletherapy in March 2020 (we all remember why!) and, since then, have been offering teletherapy sessions exclusively. In 2022, we moved back to Houston, Texas, to be closer to family. I am licensed to practice therapy in Texas and New York and work with individuals, couples, and families to help repair their connections and build communication skills.

In addition to helping clients identify and acknowledge their strengths, I believe understanding a client’s context is fundamental to collaboration. Our stories about ourselves and our families influence our lives, particularly our beliefs about our relationships. Using techniques from Narrative Therapy, we can acknowledge the power of those stories and decide how we want to write our next chapter. Structural Family Therapy can help increase healthy communication between family members as they navigate life cycle changes. For couple’s therapy, I love introducing clients to the Gottman Method, which focuses on building friendship and connection, and Emotionally Focused Therapy, which validates emotions and uncovers the “dance” of the relationship. As someone who considers social and personal issues through an intersectional lens, I see therapy as an essential source of empowerment! I believe helping people make positive changes in their lives and relationships can also help them begin making positive changes in their communities.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading (mostly romance and true crime/non-fiction), journaling, traveling, watching reality TV, and hanging out with my husband and my cat. I attend my own therapy, and I know how difficult and intimidating it can be to find a therapist you feel safe and comfortable with! The most impactful part of therapy work is the relationship, and I am happy to help you find another therapist if I turn out not to be the right fit for you.
